UCU School Of Dentistry gets first Dean
Earlier this year, the East African Medical and Dental Practitioners Council carried out an inspection in various universities in Uganda that offer medicinal courses.
After the inspection, Uganda Christian University was ordered to stop admission of more students to their school of medicine not until some recommendations are rectified.
Among these was separating the Faculty of medicine from the Faculty of dentistry which was done but the latter stood without a Dean.
Applications for the office were opened and finally Dr. James Magara who is a dentist has been appointed as the first Dean for the School of Dentistry.
Dr. Magara was recently appointed a lecturer at the UCU School of Medicine and was previously a lecturer at the Makerere University School of Medicine.
Dr. James Magara who is also the founder of Jubilee Dental Clinics holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery from Makerere University, a Master of Science in Prosthetic Dentistry from the University of Bristol (England), a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Management from Uganda Christian University, Mukono and a Doctor of Strategic Leadership Degree focusing on Strategic Foresight from the Regent University (USA).
This, therefore, means that the Anglican Church founded university is one of those universities that have tried to comply with the recommendations that were as a result of the inspections.
