UCU Guild postpones budget debate to January
The Guild government of the Uganda Christian university of Mukono has postponed its budget debate until January 4, 2021.
This was revealed by the Guild Minister of Finance, Hon Musa Ssemakula this morning.
He said that since the university is slated to close this week on Saturday 19, they could not go ahead to discuss the budget saying there is not enough time.
Ssemakula further revealed that this was also done to avail Guild Ministers enough time to revise their budgets.
“We shall be based on those budgets to make a year planner, so they should be well revised and organised. We shall have it debated upon on January 4 to January 5. We shall then have the final budget read on January 6,” Ssemakula said.
When contacted, the Guild President, Kenneth Agaba Amponda stated that the postponement may delay their operations but they had no option.
“We acknowledge the fact that this will slow our operations but then, we have no other option,” Amponda said.
The budget was supposed to be discussed today at 2:00 pm in the Guild Parliamentary house.
Guild leaders who had already organised their budgets said they now have another added time to do more preparations.
