SAD: KIU Nigerian lecturer succumbs to brain cancer

On Saturday 30th October 2020, sad news hit the entire Kampala International University(KIU) fraternity when it was learned that Dr. Jamila Abdullahi (PhD) had breathed her last.

The deceased was reported to have succumbed to a brain tumour which had since turned cancerous.

Dr. Jamila has been a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Basic Sciences.

She studied from the Ahmadu Bellow University, Nigeria where she was awarded Bsc in Zoology (1985), MSc Crop Protection (1994) and PhD. Crop Protection (2012) and has been lecturing in institutions of higher learning for more than 20 years.

Due to her generous commitment to the service of mankind, many students have eulogised Dr. Jamila with highly emotional messages cutting across social media.

“RIP Dr. Jamila, we have lost a great woman, a loving mother, an intellectual,” wrote one of the students.

Dr. Jamila’s remains were buried in Ishaka town near Lagos Mosque. Efforts to fly her back to Nigeria were futile.

As Campus Cam, we condole with the KIU fraternity upon this cloud of sorrow hovering.
