SAD: Former UCU librarian dies from COVID-19 complications

The Uganda Christian University Community is mourning the death of Fredrick Mukungu, one of its longest-serving staff.

Prof. Mukungu, worked at UCU for around 23 years.

Sources close to the family confirm that he passed away yesterday after losing the battle to the coronavirus disease.

At the time of his death, he was a librarian at Muni University.

The late Mukungu previously worked as a Church Warden at St. Philip and Andrew’s Cathedral Mukono, Missions Coordinator at St Philip and Andrew’s Cathedral Mukono (2008-2012), and College Librarian at Bishop Tucker Theological College Mukono (1982-1997).

He was also once the School Librarian for Mt St. Mary’s Secondary School Namagunga, between 1978 to 1982.

This shocking news comes just a week after UCU lost its E-Learning manager to COVID-19.

He will be laid to rest on Monday in Buwenge, Kamuli district.
