SAD: Former IUIU lecturer and Dean dies of COVID-19

Information reaching Campus Cam is of the death of Dr Abdul Qadir Balonde a former lecturer and dean at Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU).

Dr. Balonde was admitted on Friday last week at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital where he descended into the after-life on the evening of Monday 14th December 2020.

He later succumbed to Covid-19 as reported by Shamil Byakika, the Busoga Muslim spokesperson.

Dr. Balonde served as a Dean of the faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language while at IUIU-Mbale, the main campus. At the time of his death, he was serving as the chairman of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC).

Dr. Balonde will be laid to rest today, 15th December 2020 at 4:00 pm in Wantunda village, Busedde Sub-county, Jinja District. May his soul rest in peace
