MUST students strike over insecurity
Following the untimely death of a medical student known as Brian Akampulira, who was attacked and killed by thugs, students of Mbarara University of Science and Technology have decided to gather together to raise their voices over the insecurity in Mbarara.
The students were led by Guild President Umar Muhumuza in the protest before meeting with the RDC, DPC who requested representatives from them and sat down to discuss about the issue in a closed meeting where they made resolutions on how to address the challenges of security.
Students from these hot spot areas, TASO Village, Kashanyarazi, Katete, Booma, Kiswahili were represented in this meeting.
Students who have fallen victim of this insecurity include, Brian Akampulira, a second year student pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Medicine and Surgery was murdered recently and his body dumped in a swamp along river Rwizi in Katete village, Ssenyonjo Jonathan was severely beaten up in Boma and he was robbed of his phone and money leaving him with serious injuries which haven’t healed up to now, Andoma Joseph has been missing since early September.
