MUBS exams in suspense as lecturers announce strike

The Makerere University Business School Lecturers’ Association has declared a strike starting November 15th 2020, with staff expected to stay at home in protest.

Brian Muyomba, the chairperson of the association stated that they are dissatisfied with the salary disparities among members of staff and revealed that lecturers will not be turning up to teach or administer exams until their concerns are addressed.

This development comes more than a month after they called off the same following a promise from the Ministry of Public Service and The Ministry of Education and Sports to address the salary disparities.

However, despite the decision to give the stakeholders more time to examine the issue, nothing has materialised. The lecturers say they are left with no option but to lay down their tools in protest. They have vowed not to return to class, a decision which is set to affect students who were set to commence their end of semester exams this week.
