The innovation is a collaborative effort between Makerere University, the Resilient Africa Network (RAN) a project of the School of Public Health, Kiira Motors Corporation and Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation.

After a successful validation process, the team will seek approval from the National Drug Authority (NDA) for testing to begin on human beings.

According to the innovators, the Bulamu Ventilator comes with a back up system in case of power failure and can be connected to solar in case of facilities that are off the national power grid.

“I am looking forward to Bulamu Ventilators out there in the health facilities not just for COVID-19 patients but also others who need them,” Hon. Ruth Aceng stated.
