MakRun 2019 organisers fear flop as students refuse to buy tickets at 15K. Forced to chop price
The third edition of the Makerere Endowment Fund Run is slated for 15th September 2019.
The run is aimed at mobilizing funds for the construction of a students’ centre worth UGx 15 billion to enhance the quality of students life and experience at the insitution.
This year’s edition covers 5KM and 10KM and will be flagged off at 6:00 AM at the Freedom Square.
The tickets have been on sale for weeks now at a cost of 15K for students, 25K and 50K for alumni and well wishers respectively.
However, the organisers were shocked that the main participants, the Ivory tower students have deliberately refused to buy tickets claiming that the price is too high despite the fact that it comes with a free t-shirt.
This has forced the organisers to slash the prices from 15K to 10K.
The previous two editions of MakRun have managed to collect a sumation of UGX 400M of the needed UGX 7Bn.
Tickets are on sale at Makerere University Guest House, Printery, Main Library, Main Building and Senate building
We shall bring you live updates from the run come sunday.
