Makerere University Students’ teams wins Gold and Silver at the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge

Two teams of students from the Makerere University College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) have won Gold and Silver at the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge for their Standalone solar load Management System and Solar Energy Efficient Fish Dryer projects.

The Design Challenge is global, multidisciplinary completion that aims at empowering university student teams to accelerate clean energy access to the communities.

All members for the winning teams are fourth year Electrical Engineering students.

The grand finale event was held on Monday 29th June 2020 and saw CEDAT teams alongside those from University College London.

Twenty teams from different universities across the globe got involved in the competition funded by UK an IKEA Foundation.

The team that won Gold was comprised of Mr. Sibo Derrick, Mr. Weredwong Innocent, Mr. Obeti Silivio and Mr. Mukasa Pete.

The Silver award winning team was made up of Mr. Ivan Musingo, Mr. Fred Wanjala, Mr. Reagan Masembe and Mr. Evarest Ampaire.
