Makerere University students resume protest against 15% tuition increment policy

Lectures at Makerere University have this morning been disrupted as the strike against 15% tuition policy enters second day.

The strike which started from Mitchel hall of residence saw the striking students fetch their colleagues who were attending lectures at different colleges and forced all of them outside.

At the moment, military and police are engaging in running battles with the students all over the university as they have resorted to using teargas and rubber bullets to disperse the rowdy students.

Some students have locked themselves in their halls of residence chanting songs “fees must fall”

The vice chancellor prof Barnabas Nawangwe yesterday vowed to suspend any student who will be caught in any disruptive activities.
