Makerere University lecturer tests positive for COVID-19

Mrs. Amanda Ngabirano, a lecturer at Makerere University has revealed that she tested positive for coronavirus.

She revealed the news via a social media post and she stated that she could have contracted the diseases after a visit to Lira district.

She stated that she is asymptomatic, although she reportedly lost her sense of taste before taking the test.

“I have no other symptoms so far…and I pray my body successfully fights it as I self-isolate. My sense of smell is back. Now I can enjoy my fish. However I tested positive for COVID-19. I don’t know how we shall survive this virus! It’s allover I guess. I trace mine from Lira. So my dear contacts, please make sure to test and protect your family, friends and workmates,” she stated.

Mrs. Amanda Ngabirano is a lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Physical Planning, School of Built Environment, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology, Makerere University.

She was recently sworn in as the Chairperson of the new National Physical Planning Board (NPPB).

She is an urban and regional planner, with more than 7 years of professional experience in the area of urban development, particularly in Uganda.
