Makerere university alumni have accused Prof. William Bazeyo of holding a fake Ph.D. and asked the University Search Committee to drop him from the Deputy Vice Chancellor race.

Through their lawyers, Birungi, Nalunkuma, snd Company Advocates, Mak alumni Sam Ninsiima and Amos Welikhe accuse Prof. Bazeyo of holding a Ph.D. from Atlantic International University which is not recognized by the United States Department of Education.

The two have raised the issue on several occasions to the University. However, university management referred them to the National Council of High Education (NCHE).

The NCHE through Dr. Puis Achenga the acting director of quality assurance and accreditation wrote to university.

The letter read “the purpose of the Letter is to inform you that University is question is not accredited by the US department of education. Awards of Atlantic International University are therefore not recognized by the NCHE.”

The university in question has however claimed that is recognized by an independent UK quality assurance body specialized in the institutional accreditation of education providers globally.

The Makerere university search committee shortlisted three candidates Prof. Anthony Mugisha of Veterinary Science and Socio-economic and Associate Prof. Allan Mulengani Katwalo, the dean of the school of business for the position of Deputy vice-chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration.
