Mak Administration Reportedly Set To Blacklist Olympia Hostel Over Sexual Harrasment
After multiple complaints of sexual harassment were raised against a one ‘Reuben’ the custodian of Kikoni based Olympia Hostel, girls within the posh students’ residence took it upon themselves to ensure that the sex pest does not get to see the light of day at the hostel.
Information reaching our news desk indicates that concerned girls from the hostel and staff from the Department of Gender Mainstreaming had a meeting with the hostel owner over the matter but it didn’t end well. A source within the closed door meeting intimated to Campus Bee that the Hostel authorities were not apologetic at all over the matter.
“The man (owner) was so arrogant and even brought his lawyer. He refused to suspend the custodian to allow investigations to take place.” Our source exclusively told us.
Campus Cam has also learnt that the Hostel owner even insinuated that the girls who think are not comfortable with Reuben as the Custodian leave the hostel.
The hostel being a private entity, there seemed to be no direct way the university could influence them to follow the direction sought because the hostel is operated separate of the university interference.
However, our source also disclosed that the Department of Gender Mainstreaming at the university has chosen to take the extreme measure of blacklisting the hostel and discouraging their students from residing in it.
Consequently, the university can push out directives to all students to sleep in the said hostel at their own risk without university liability in case something happened to them.
