The head of state President Yoweri Museveni recently revealed that he had received information that some of the individuals were wrongly declared positive.

“Some of the 679 confirmed cases were classified as positive when they are not by a laboratory in Makerere because they were careless. Only three people were working there and I think they got tired and they did not do things properly and some samples were classified as positive and yet they were not. Fresh tests were done and facts came out” President Museveni stated.

The university has however dismissed these reports stating that the President was ill-advised by those against the institution’s participation in the testing and that the claims were aimed at discrediting the testing center’s reputation.

It is reported that the Health Ministry runs each test at $65 (Shs234,000) while Makerere University does so at a lower cost.
