Kyambogo University installs equipment to boost fire preparedness
Kyambogo University recently procured and installed fire fighting equipment in a bid to enhance its preparedness for a crisis that can occur upon a fire outbreak.
Makerere University recently lost its Main building after it was gutted by a fire, prompting other institutions to take necessary precautions to avert similar disasters.
The Vice-Chancellor of Kyambogo University, Professor Elli Katunguka, revealed that following the incident at the ‘Ivory Tower’ at Makerere, he decided to install fire suppressing equipment in the most vulnerable and sensitive structures at the institution.
So far, equipment such as fire extinguishers have been in place, so that a quick response to a fire outbreak can be rolled out.
Kyambogo University has a number of recently constructed buildings courtesy of funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB).
These include a three-storied central library with ICT-enhanced capacity, two-storied central teaching facility, technical teacher education workshop/complex, a three-storied multi-purpose science laboratory block, and a four-storied engineering workshop
