Kyambogo University agrees to host students from private hostels

Kyambogo University has agreed to host students previously residing in private hostels because of the refusal by their proprietors to reduce accommodation fees.

The move came after some hostel owners decided to hike the accommodation fees following the return of final year students from a seven-month-long break contrary to their agreement with the University management.

The university had unsuccessfully negotiated with the hostels to charge the finalists reasonable and affordable fees for hostel utilities like electricity and water, but many of them didn’t heed to the call, prompting the institution to provide the option for those students who were unable to afford the high fees.
