John Katumba promises Public Universities for Hoima and Iganga districts

Independent Presidential candidate John Katumba has promised to construct public universities in Iganga and Hoima districts to improve education standards in the areas when elected into office.

Katumba made the remarks while addressing campaign rallies in Iganga municipality last week and in Hoima district yesterday.

He said the majority of students end up dropping out of school at an early stage because of lack of a public university to admit them.

The Makerere University graduate also said that Members of Parliament receive huge sums of money in form of salaries, yet health facilities in the country, especially in the rural areas, are grappling with lack of medical supplies.

On the Oil and Gas resources in the Albertine region, he pledged to build capacity for Ugandans and local companies to extract oil, only sale finished products among others.
