FULL LIST: UCU Voter Register in Question as Thousands Miss Out

As Uganda Christian University heads for the Guild Polls next week, a number of students are missing out on the Voter Register which has raised eyebrows in both the candidates and the Students.

Among the missing students are the Mass communication Finalists. In a class of over 200 students, only 15 are the registered voters showing on the register yet all are entitled to Voting according to the Electoral Laws.

This has angered many of them and insiders believe it is a deliberate scheme for the current Guild leadership and the Electoral Commission to lock them out of the exercise because they have been very critical of the regime.

“We are being targeted by the Electoral Commission and the Guild leadership because we have always been critical of the regime. They now want to Lock us out of the voting but they should know it’s a human right to choose my leader” one of the students who chose anonymity told this website.

Other courses like Industrial and Fine Art, Engineering have also reported the same case to the Electoral commission but seems the committee has chosen to give a deaf ear to the Students.

In an interview with one of the Candidates who chose anonymity, He said they have filed the complaints to the Dosa and Electoral commission but they are yet to get a response from the two Offices. “It’s a week but they are still silent. We petitioned the commission about the matter but still waiting on them to give us feedback, I hope it doesn’t come in late” he said.
