Former Kyambogo University GRC starts brewing alcohol to make ends meet during pandemic
23 year old Gerald Mukisa, a student and former Guild Representative Councillor (GRC) at Kyambogo University has started an enterprise that manufactures local brew, popularly known as waragi.
Gerald came up with the idea after he returned home following the closure of learning institutions across the country in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
He brews the waragi at home in Kassanda, Mubende district as a way of keeping him occupied and earn some income during the time away from school.
The Bachelor of Education student says that he sells the alcohol to local residents who seek his product on a regular basis since bars have been closed for over two months.
He hopes to continue running the business until the university reopens.
