Dr. Stella Nyanzi resigns from Makerere University

Dr. Stella Nyanzi, a research fellow at Makerere Institute of Social Research that is based at Makerere University has resigned from her position as she sets prepares to run for the Kampala Woman Member of Parliament seat.

According to reports, she submitted her resignation to the Makerere University Appointments Board on Firday 17th July 2020.

The Electoral Commission (EC) currently mandates every prospective candidate to resign from their public service jobs before they contest in Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Lawrence Ssanyu, the Ag Human Resource Officer of Makerere University acknowledged receipt of Nyanzi’s resignation from Makerere University.

She was recently awarded a 120 million shillings payout by cout after it faulted Makerere University for unfair termination of her contract a few years ago.

Dr. Stella Nyanzi has been building momentum for her political career through her activism campaigns which include an arrest for demonstrating over what she described as ‘slow distribution’ of government relief food to vulnerable people, mostly affected by the COVID-19 induced lockdown.
