Cabinet to decide on reopening of schools

Dr. Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health has revealed that the cabinet will decide on when schools and higher institutions of learning would reopen.

She made the remarks while appearing before the health committee of parliament chaired by the Bukuya county MP Micheal Bukenya.

Dr. Atwine stated that the Ministry’s scientific advisory committee was expected to present their findings before the cabinet on Monday, January 25, 202, after which a decision would be made.

She further refuted reports that learning institutions would fully reopen next month, saying that guidance from the Ministry of Health is required.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education Patrick Muyinda, yesterday said that the President would communicate the decision to reopen schools for learners.

Contrary to reports circulating in the media, the government is yet to take a decision on the full reopening of Education institutions for non-finalists. Once a decision is made, the public will be informed through the known official channels,” the Ministry of Education and Sports tweeted.
