10 suspects arrested over the death of Makerere University student

The Uganda Police have revealed they have arrested 10 suspects in connection with the death of Emmanuel Tegu, a third year student at Makerere University.

Despite reports from the public that Emmanuel succumbed to multiple organ failure after being beaten LDU officers, Police have stuck to the narrative that he was beaten by a mob.

The Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson stated that investigations are on going and several individuals have been apprehended.

“Today, police carried out an intelligence led operation and arrested 10 suspects in connection to the death of Tegu. All the suspects are residents of Makerere University in Kampala and are detained at Wandegeya Police Station pending interrogation,” Onyango said.

Onyango declined to reveal the identities of those arrested but indicated that they are said to have participated in the mob action that led to Tegu’s death.

The deceased passed away on Saturday morning, close to a week after he was brutally beaten on 28th June 2020.

Emmanuel was laid to rest yesterday in Bukedea district. May his soul Rest in Eternal Peace
